Council of Europe
The Council of Europe is an International Organization established on May 5, 1949 with the approval of the Treaty of London, by means of which an international body focused on the European continent is formed, the purpose of which: «… consists of creating a closer union between its members to safeguard and promote the ideals and principles that constitute their common heritage and favor their economic progress and social ", and in the same way it is foreseen in the Statute of the Council of Europe that:" This purpose will be pursued through the Council bodies, by examining matters of common interest, the conclusion of agreements and the conclusion of a joint action in the economic, social, cultural, scientific, legal and administrative fields, as well as the safeguarding and greater effectiveness of human rights and fundamental freedoms ”. The Council of Europe is the body with the highest membership fees for the States in the region, although its leadership has been somewhat diminished by the European Union, however it still maintains its mark on issues such as human rights. The headquarters of the Council of Europe is located in Strasbourg, France.
