Organization of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBTO)
The Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) is a body that arises with the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBTO) approved by the General Assembly on September 10, 1996, through resolution 50/245 , opening for signature on September 24, 1996, however the Organization will enter into operation 180 days after the 44 States in Annex 2 have ratified the Treaty. The Treaty establishes the following: "The States Parties to this Treaty establish by it the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (hereinafter referred to as" the Organization "), to achieve the object and purpose of this Treaty , ensure the application of its provisions, including those relating to international verification of compliance, and serve as a forum for consultations and cooperation among the States Parties. The Organization's headquarters are located in Vienna, Austria.
